This is the author's best work thus far, imho.

Sherry Spencer may be thirty-years-old, but anyone looking at her would believe her to be a teenager. Although her face reflects pretty innocence, inside she has the determination of a bulldog. She has been so busy making a name for herself in the advertising field that she has not really been bothered about her lack of dates. Sherry works for Simpson & Bailey. She is an advertising marvel. She has won every major award her industry has to offer, and some they do not. Sherry has so many clients and accounts that her boss, Fred Simpson, allows her to accept or decline taking on any new ones, no matter how big.

Sherry knows she is a wiz. She had worked hard to become one. Yet Sherry is not the cynic so many in her profession are. She has remained the nice person she was when she began her career, but she is no push over. So when Sherry reads "For a good time call Kit" on a twenty dollar bill, she dials the local phone number to warn the poor lady. After all, who knows how many bills were floating around with the lady's number on them. However, Kit turns out to be a man. One who actually demands that Sherry shred the twenty dollar bill. When the demand fails, Kit offers to meet with her and exchange the twenty for another.

Christian "Kit" Fleming is the CEO of Bella Luna Industries, Inc. Having grown up in an environment that nightmares could be made from and having seen what marriage could do to people, Kit refuses to ever wed. Every woman Kit dates is informed of his rules up front. Kit gives no promises of monogamy, commitment, or love. Whether it be his business or private life, Kit must have full control. Unlike his childhood, Kit would never again put himself in a vulnerable position. Vulnerability makes a person weak.

It is more than just her intelligence or pretty face. She possesses an elusive quality that makes him eager to learn everything about her. Kit's problem is that Sherry has absolutely no fear of him. She could take his business or leave it. She could take him or leave him. Kit has zero control over Sherry. Which makes her dangerous. But one way or another, Sherry will be his next acquisition. Kit fully intends to sleep with her someday soon. And Kit plans to make certain their time together would be on his terms, by his rules.

***** FIVE STARS! Author Trish Jensen has penned a romance that is ambrosia for the heart strings. Fans of Jayne Ann Krentz's early books (such as Family Man and Wildest Hearts) will especially enjoy this battle of wills. No wimpy hero or heroine, both are secure in their business positions, and neither plans to give an inch. In my humble opinion, this is Jensen's best story to date. Exhilarating! *****

This is a wonderfully sweet and funny romance.

When Sherry Spencer, advertising whiz, receives a twenty dollar bill in her change with "for a good time, call Kit..." written on it she gives it a call if only to let Kit know that her phone # is out there. Turns out Kit is Christian "Kit" Fleming, definitely not a her. He isn't thrilled when he finds out about the bill and demands Sherry tear it up. But twenty bucks is twenty bucks and she offers to meet and swap it out with him. When they meet he recognizes the scent of her shampoo and mentions it. She explains she is trying it out as she has to pitch an ad campaign to the company that makes it. She is less than complimentary when she speaks of the product. Turns out Kit is the guy she needs to pitch to.
Sherry thinks Kit is a sexy uptight stick in the mud. Kit thinks Sherry is a perky pain in the butt. Working together on the ad campaign Kit learns that Sherry knows her stuff and isn't a "yes man" type of gal. Sherry learns that Kit has his reasons for being a "stick in the mud". Can the two meet in the middle and find happiness?

I adored this story. Mostly because Sherry is smart, sexy, and comfortable in her own skin. She knows what she wants and doesn't settle. Kit isn't as far from redemption as he thinks he is. This is a wonderfully sweet and funny romance.

Funny and Charming!

Funny, witty, charming and heart-warming. 'For A Good Time Call' was a fabulous quick read. When Sherry Spencer, an ad executive, gets a twenty dollar bill with a "For a good time call Kit" written on it, she acts on as a good civilian in hopes of saving some poor girl extended embarrassment. What Sherry Spencer didn't expect was for Kit to be a man. She meets up with Kit in order to return to twenty dollar bill, and of course to see the man behind the message. Of course she didn't expect Kit to be her next client, a controlling CEO that hired her company to do a commercial on their beauty product. Sparks fly as neither of them are able to agree at the beginning on the vision they have for the commercial which in turn is followed by a heated attraction.

Kit Fleming is controlling, with his own set of rules for the women he meets and beds. So when Sherry wonders into his life, he isn't prepared to deal with the attraction he feels for her. She is one of the only women who has somehow managed to reject him over and over again, and didn't fall for his demanding ways.

The story was absolute blast. I loved the characters, Kit and Sherry were very well written. I thought the story had it's adorable funny moments. There was a time that I hated Sherry especially when Kit was trying so hard and she would just poke fun of him. I wanted to put him under my pillow and comfort him, heh. The attraction between the two characters was thick and believable. A great fast paced read, that left me yearning for more. The plot was amusing and engaging. Thought I heard people compare it to Fifty Shades of Gray I don't have a leg to lean on, as I myself never read those books. But know that 'For a Good Time Call...' held my attention through and through.

If you're reading this book you should be job hunting.

If you've been given this book by someone at work it means that something bad is about to happen there. This book is set up to attempt to make you quiet and complacent. The book is arranged in three parts: an introduction which informs you that nearly everyone likes this book. You learn that if you don't like this book it probably means that you're afraid of change, stubborn, a know-it-all, and not likely to weather whatever impending storm your boss has in mind. So, having been conditioned to accept and like the book, you move into its main body which is a story about mice and people in a maze. When the maze changes the mice don't think much, don't question anything, they just adapt. The people think. This causes grief for the people. They don't think TOO hard though. Neither ever thinks "why am I in this maze in the first place and could I try to get out?" or "where is this cheese coming from and why?" They think only about the maze and the cheese in it. The third part of the book is a summation of what you have learned so far, using some old friends at a highschool reunion as examples. Those who think too much or do not adapt instantaneously and quietly end up badly (for example being fired!) Those who behave like mice live happily ever after. Beware of this book.

I can see why CEOs love this

The subtle, underlying message of this book is "Don't waste time fighting against bad changes: accept that bad stuff will happen to you for no good reason and just keep moving, like an animal." The animal analogy is a valid one: animals do not question or complain about changes that hurt them, they just try to survive. Any CEO would love a company full of mice--and this book is a great step along that road.
Furthermore, the book's core analogy makes the insulting assumption that employees shouldn't bother with reason or analysis: pure survival instinct is all the CEO wants to see. Real humans in a maze, confronted with vanishing or moving cheese, wouldn't just whine; they'd analyze their situation and find a creative solution, instead of just going back to foraging. Maybe the cheese-deposit mechanism is stuck; maybe the cheese is shifting in a pattern that can be understood; maybe there's a way out of the freakin' maze! "Just accept it and keep moving" is not only a simpleminded philosophy, it's often dead wrong.
Change is not always bad, but it should always be questioned, and opposed if it's harmful. Be a man, not a mouse.

A book, from management to employees, that insults its workforce on soooooo many levels

This reviewer remembers having gone to the office (at a then "Big 5 "accounting firm) one day back in 2000 and having found this so-called book (in actually this "book" more of a pamphlet than a book) on his desk. This reviewer's first reaction was to think it was a joke. He called one of his fellow staff members to ask if it was a joke and was quickly informed that every employee in the firm had received, like the reviewer, a copy of this "book" at his or her desk. Knowing that the distribution of this book on a wide level usually portends some massive "change" at the office this reviewer was not happy to find out it was not a joke. The reviewer was very tempted to throw out the book but knowing, based on the fact that everyone in the firm received, we could all be out of work it was wise to, instead, keep for something to do while unemployed (that moment came about four months after the book was passed out). After reading it, while unemployed, the reviewer developed a very negative opinion of it (the reasons for this are discussed below).

About 13 years later this reviewer saw an employee with this book (at another firm). He thought to himself, was this book really as bad as he remembered it? After all, he remembered it as one of the most insulting books he had ever read. Perhaps it was just a poor memory (and the years) playing a cruel joke. Hence he decided to re-read it again. Unfortunately, after reading it again, the memories were only found to be correct. This was truly one of the most insulting books this reviewer had to read, never mind having been given as a "gift". This was the case on so many levels.

First of all this "book" is written for 10 year olds, in terms of both style and content. The 80 "page" book had about three paragraphs per page and on just about every other page had a one page picture with a piece of cheese with some short pretentious "philosophical" statement in it (i.e., "move with the cheese and enjoy it", "old beliefs do not lead you to new chees", "having cheese makes you happy", etc.). It is remarkable how management would even think of giving something out to adults. What were they thinking? That their workforce consists of children who need to be guided by adults (i.e., management)? Insulting, to say the least.

As if this was not bad enough, per se, there is the story contained in the book. This is of mice who need to get used to the fact that things change and they need to adapt. Who over six years old does not know this? Does management think their workforce consists of idiots? Another vicious insult. In addition, the implication that employees are mere mice chasing pieces of cheese in a maze is another insult to their workforce. Does management really believe that this is all the workforce really is to them? Nothing more than rodents?

Another point that this book makes, implicitly, is that the workforce needs to accept this change, brought about by management, without question and with no critical eye in much the same way that the population of the Soviet Union had to accept the perpetual policy changes made by that nation's leadership without question or thought. Never mind that many of the changes brought by management, especially organizational changes, are more often without rhyme or reason. Another insult. In this reviewer's opinion this is the worst point, by far, that the book makes. It shows how little management thinks of any contributions its own workforce can make and how little its opinions matter to management.

In short, this book does nothing more than insult an entity's workforce in so many ways. Plus it shows how highly management views itself over and above its own workforce. After reading this, one can justifiably ask oneself if management would actually feed its workforce to cats if it lead to larger bonuses for themselves. The only positive benefit is that it makes all of this obvious to the workforce, in and by itself a valuable service.

Commentary on First John

John Calvin takes the book of First John and explains the close connection of the love of God toward us, our love toward others, and the doctrines found in this particular book which include the future disorder of the church, conscience as an indicator of our relationship with God, faith and works and the practical working out of our faith. I had never read John Calvin before although i have heard of him since childhood, and i wish i had started sooner.

I have been a pastor of some five churches and an evangelist for many. I hated the Calvinistic theology, but after reading this gospel the thoughts and ideas that were explicit I was astounded what I have missed. Cursive reading of the text missed the central ideas. Get this book, read it carefully and prayerfully. You will be enriched.
